Feel inspired by recent runway looks? So do we. Check out our favourite designer catwalk outfits and our Fashion Boundary picks to feel beautiful and current at work. We've chosen items that are office appropriate whilst still fun and are perfect for after-work drinks.
The Crop Jacket
We saw it at Michael Kors, we saw it at Alexander McQueen and now it’s time to bring it into the office. It might be something you’ve been incorporating into your work wear for a while now or it might be a piece you’ve been avoiding, however, there’s no denying that the cropped jacket has been flooding the fashion weeks.
It’s the perfect addition to any length dress and looks great with high waisted trousers, plus, you can wear it all day and won’t crease when you sit down.
The statement sleeve
Statement sleeves aren’t going anywhere as seen in brands like Fendi and Max Mara filled their Fall 2020 collections with volumed shoulders and arms. We love this ongoing trend as it adds definition and excitement to an outfit with minimal effort. They’re also great for covering areas you may find unflattering whist looking modern and stylish.
We fell in love with this look from Alexander Wang’s 2019-2020 ready to wear show and it made us fall back in love with the office and runway favourite, the shirt dress. This item looks amazing on all sizes and is the perfect way to feel comfortable and work-appropriate at the office. We love both short and long hemmed shirt dresses as they both make a perfect professional dress choice, as well as being a style that most co-workers will be able to wear with confidence!
Nothing says uniform more than utility styling and that’s the trend that dominated NYFW earlier this year like this look from Proenza Schouler. The neat design and earth-toned colours of most military/utility styled items work well in a work environment. We love the look of large statement pockets and oversized trench coats so we’ll definitely follow the runway trend and wear it to work.
Also, you can never have enough pockets at work.
Hard to hate a tassel earring. We were inspired by the glittery tassel earrings featured in Lavin’s Fall 2020 ready to wear show which reminded us of the Jasmin Sparrow’s long Sparkle Earrings. We’ll be wearing these to sparkle up our week at the office and they’ll even look amazing at those after-work drinks.
We loved these frames from the Zimmermann Fall 2020 ready to wear show. The play on alternative shapes for frames reminded us of the Pink Copper pair from Victor Wong. It’s great to have a classic black pair for minimal outfits but for days you’re after a little more fun, these are the sunnies to choose.
We love taking runway looks and turning them into every day, workwear pieces. If the whole look isn’t you, always look closely at the details, such as the accessories or hairstyles. We always try and have fun with our work outfits, which seem to make the work week more fun.
